“Logographic Meditation” takes on a therapeutic task while hanging in Tobey Hospital’s new emergency room waiting area. The five knots showcased represent logographs or symbols marking a cadence for mantric meditation to assist in alleviating the stress of patrons. The patterns are carried over from the knotted chords worn by some Chinese Priests and Daoist Monks during their respective meditations. The knots embody the act of Bugang or Yubu, where these practitioners make mental strides and dance among the stars of the Big Dipper in order to receive power from a deity or supernatural energy on the path to healing and enlightenment.
